Peanut roasting machine is one of the commonly used equipment in food processing industry, and its performance and life are directly related to production efficiency and product quality. However, because the roaster is often exposed to high temperature, high humidity and grease environment during use, rust is prone to appear on the surface of the equipment. Therefore, it is very important to take effective anti-rust measures. The following are some practical suggestions for rust prevention of peanut roasting machine.
1. Metallurgical Selection: Beyond “Stainless Steel”

When purchasing a peanut roasting machine, prioritize equipment made of stainless steel. Not all stainless steels perform equally. For a peanut roasting machine, prefer AISI 304 (1.4301) or AISI 316 (1.4401) grades.
- 304 offers good oxidation resistance up to 870°C and resists organic acids from peanut skin.
- 316 adds molybdenum (2–3%) for superior pitting resistance against chloride ions (common in cleaning water).
- For drum internals, consider duplex 2205 if high-salinity peanuts are processed.
- For non-food-contact structural frames, apply zinc-rich epoxy primers (≥85% Zn by weight) followed by a polyurethane topcoat, offering cathodic protection even if scratched.
2. Regular Cleaning
Over time, grease, dust, and other impurities will accumulate on the surface of the roasting machine, accelerating corrosion. Therefore, the equipment should be thoroughly cleaned regularly. When cleaning, it is recommended to use a neutral cleaning agent and avoid using cleaning agents containing acids or alkalis to prevent damage to the surface of the equipment.
3. Keep Dry
Moisture is one of the main causes of metal rust. In daily use, the equipment should be kept away from humid environments for extended periods of time. After use, wipe the surface of the equipment with a dry cloth to ensure it remains dry. If the equipment is not in use for a long period, store it in a well-ventilated and dry place.
4. Regular Inspection and Maintenance
Establish a regular inspection mechanism to promptly detect and address rust spots or damaged areas on the equipment surface. For areas with minor rust, lightly sand them with sandpaper and then apply rust-preventive oil. Severely rusted parts should be replaced promptly to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
5. Correct Use of Rust-Preventive Products
A variety of rust-preventive oils and agents are available on the market. After cleaning and maintaining the equipment, apply a suitable layer of rust-preventive oil to form a protective film, isolating it from air and moisture. When applying rust-preventive products, ensure even coverage and avoid contact with food processing areas.
6. Proper Operation and Storage
When operating the peanut roasting machine, strictly follow the instruction manual to avoid damage or accelerated rusting due to improper operation. When not in use, clean any residue from the inside of the equipment and cover it with a dust cover.
By implementing the above measures, the service life of the peanut roasting machine can be significantly extended, while ensuring production efficiency and food safety. We hope these rust prevention tips will help you better protect and manage your equipment!
